Mykolaiv – the Last City to Give in to COVID-19

Located in the Southern part of Ukraine, Mykolaiv became the last of the Mohicans among the Ukrainian cities. While many regions got affected by the pandemic on April 3, Mykolaiv had the first COVID-19 case only on April 11.

Despite the difficult times, Ukrainians add a pinch of humour to the situation and call the city as one of the safest places in the world. Many even share a meme, widely spread around the social media:

The Safest Places in the World Ranking:

3. Penthagon

2. Under God’s Protection

  1. Mykolaiv Region
Author: Unknown

While local authorities were proud to have such statistics, the national government questioned the medical system of the region. However, as the investigation revealed, the past suspects were all tested negative, and the first case was really documented only on April 11.

Now everybody is left wondering what magical remedy Mykolaivans used to strengthen their immune system, or which business needed the region to be clear for its successful operation.
